1. Recognize Limiting Beliefs
What are your beliefs about yourself and about the world around you?
So many times we have beliefs that limit us of the possibilities and opportunities around us.
Like, "I am not smart enough," "I'll never be able to do that," "I can't afford that," "Who am I to lead that," That's to big for me," etc. These thoughts hinder our growth and most of the time immediately stop us from taking any action at all.
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right" - Henry Ford
How do I find and change them?
Glad you asked!
1. Uncover them
Take time here and there throughout your life to sit with yourself and uncover your limiting beliefs.
‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’ — Carl Jung
Fill in these sentences:
Working out is ________.
Finances are ________.
Relationships are ________.
Politics are ________.
Work is ________.
The world is ________.
People are ________.
I am __________.
The meaning of life is __________.
Those are your beliefs.
Write down what you want your beliefs to be and make an effort on a daily basis to flip that mindset. SO when you hear, "I am not smart enough to do that;" change it to, "I have the tools to learn about that topic enough to feel confident in my ability to do that."
Or
"Working out is hard," to "Working out challenges me and makes me feel accomplished after I conquer it."
Your beliefs are allowed to change and SHOULD! Many people have a negative stigma around people who change their mind or beliefs, but you should understand that being fluid and changing with growth and information is a great tool and advantage in this world. Those who can not grow and change will be stuck in their current mindset, never able to navigate life in a way that brings them total happiness, joy and even success.
2. Understand That Your Thoughts Are Not Yours
Our thoughts are not ours and we shouldn't own them in a way that allows us to be controlled by them.
Think about how much information you put into your brain on a daily basis through teLIEvision, social media, the radio, people around you, past floating thoughts etc. Those thoughts creep to the surface on a daily basis. Understanding that this is where most of your thoughts come from can bring you great relief and joy and help you let go of thoughts that may feel intrusive or limiting or even scary.
Learn how to limit and control these thoughts in your mind.
1. Pay attention to what you allow through your eyes and ears.
What you feed your mind is very important. It's good to be aware of the world, but we don't have to be OF the world. Get rid of songs, tv shows, social media pages, groups, close peers and ideas that do not support the mindset that you want.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." -Romans 12
2. Master harnessing a thought or letting it go.
You can control what thoughts you keep and amplify, and what thoughts you let go. Mastering this will become a very important tool in your life and the way you begin doing this is through meditation or during exercise (without music). When you hear a thought surface, begin practicing letting it go (watching it float by), or replacing it with the thought you want. Begin practicing amplifying certain thoughts and creating on top of them. The more you practice these the easier it becomes.
3. Change Your Story
In order to change who you are and become who you want to be you must you must change your story. What is your current story? Write it down. How is that story stopping you from becoming who you want to be. Or how is it keeping you in the past?
If you want a better life for yourself, this goes back to the limiting beliefs. Make yourself the hero of your own story. How did you overcome the challenges of your past? How did your timeline unfold? And how does your story end?
The way you perceive your story will be close to the way it turns out, because the decisions and actions you take will be based on that story.
"Change your story, change your life." -Tony Robbins
Facts are, you have the power to Conquer Your Mind. You just have to TRAIN IT. Don't let the world intrude and morph your mindset. Take control of it. Be aware of what you feed it.
Conquer it.
